Volunteer in the Community From: Project Helping

Minimum Age:

21+ only; any persons who attend that are under age 21 will not be admitted to DCH.

What We Will Do:

Project Helping volunteers will help prepare and serve a home-cooked meal to the kids and staff of the Residential Program at Denver Children's Home. Volunteers are invited to then enjoy the meal and chat with the residents afterward!

Volunteers will need to need to complete the following forms to participate in this volunteer event:

- A mandatory reporter form 

- A volunteer experience outline 

- An acknowledgment form outlining appropriate interactions with the children. 

(These forms will be provided to you, from Denver Children's Home)

Check in with the Treasure House of Hope volunteer lead when you arrive. They will provide a brief overview of the benefits of volunteering and will stick with you during the entire experience to make sure you have a blast!

About the Organization:

Treasure House of Hope changes lives and restores families by assisting with career development/education, counseling, life skills, supportive services, and parenting support. Individuals in recovery can live at Treasure House of Hope for free for a year. They support their residency through the Bread Ministry, where a variety of banana, pumpkin spice, and zucchini breads are baked every week and provided to the community on a donation basis.

Urban Peak ignites the potential in youth to exit homelessness and create self-determined, fulfilled lives. Urban Peak seeks to make sure that all Colorado youth have safe housing, supportive relationships, and the opportunity for self-sufficiency and success.

What We Will Do:

Project Helping volunteers will help prepare and serve a home-cooked meal to 40-45 unaccompanied women and transgender individuals experiencing homelessness in the Denver area.

Address:

The Delores Project prefers to keep their address confidential for the safety of their guests.
We will send out an email the day before the event with the address.

Agenda:

11:00am - Welcome and Check-In
11:00am - 12:00pm - Prepare the Meal
12:00pm - 12:30pm - Serve Lunch
12:30pm - 1:00pm - Clean Up and Thank You

What to Bring:

Closed-toe shoes
Comfortable, appropriate clothing (that you don't mind getting dirty)

Where to Park:

There is ample street parking available in the neighborhood around the The Delores Project.

Where to Meet:

Please use the buzzer at the back door to be let in, then staff will direct you to the kitchen.

The Delores Project provides welcoming, low-barrier shelter and services for unaccompanied women and transgender individuals during times of homelessness. We believe that hospitality, respect, and regard for the dignity of each individual lay the groundwork for forming positive relationships leading to lasting change.
